First time out with his Designer Bass FROG: Clone Series, AJ Regner nailed this 7 lb. 6 oz fat bass with the heat index hitting 112 degrees. Fortunately, the water he was fishing was spring fed and the bass were very hungry. It was a creek with a beaver dam, no lilly pads, and some surface moss with open pockets. In only 3 hours over several nights in a row, he fished a Clone Series FROG that he was given to him by Top FROGman, Chad Hoover, to field test from some of our precious samples left over from the ICAST Show. He gave one to the right guy ! He caught 8 fat bass over those two evenings in a total of 3 hours fishing.

By the way, Chad's website will be the first place to sell theDesigner Bass FROG: Clone Series in his STORE at

In fact, he is taking pre-orders right now !  They are less than 30 days away now.

First time out with his Designer Bass FROGs, John Klose of California caught these two beauties while vacationing in Texas. That would make it a little tough going back to work on Monday.

Wow ! I just heard from John just after posting his pictures. He wanted to order more FROGs, because he left his FROGs with his buddies in Texas ! What a guy !

Hey guys the FROGs made their "splash" at the ICAST 2010 Show in Las Vegas.FROGman Chad Hoover from KayakBassFishing.com took them to the Show to "show them off". Bassmaster ran a live broadcast of Chad's demonstration of the FROGs on their website.Check it out:

http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tournaments/live/kyte?uri=channels/422729/977185

Also, I am currently writing a 4 part series on theFROGs and how to fish them for Bassmaster.com Also, they will be featured in the print version of Bassmaster Magazine in the September issue, starring in the lead photo for an article on frog fishing. Also, if you have never watched "Day on the Lake" live fishing broadcasts on their website, you are really missing out. I watched Terry Scroggins fishing "live" on Orange Lake in central Florida. It was just like being there while I was at home working. In the first 10 minutes, he caught a 10 pounder !  I'm hooked !

Francois Malan is our FROGman in South Africa, and he had a great season with the FROGs. I have been so busy bringing the Clone Series to market and of course--- trying to catch up making FROGs --- that I did not get his photos and stories published on time. And his Fishing Reports are some of the best on this website. Unfortunately, their seasons are opposite ours, and he is most assuredly suffering from "cabin fever" right now as we always do when its too cold out to go Froggin for bass. Check out his Reports and his adventures with his FROGdawg "Luke", and his Top FROG  a Signature Series --- "Sir-Lands-aLot" as they continue their adventures with FROGs, monster bass & crocodiles !  If you are a Big Bass --- you don't want these guys hunting you down !

Keary Mattison, our FROGman in New York continues to slam the bigger bass on the FROGs. He just topped his Personal Best Largemouth Bass that he caught on his FROG last year. Last year he caught a 5 lb. 11 oz largemouth, and now he's topped that with a 6.97 lb largemouth. He has also now caught a 5.25 lb smallmouth on the FROGs. Wow ! Who would not like to do that ! He will be sending a photo of the smallmouth soon. If that's not enough, he also landed a 14 lb Pike. Can you just imagine the kind of strike on the FROG that must have been ! Check out Keary's FROG Fishing Reports on the FROGmen Page.

Forget all the apologies I make in this video. It was not me that screwed up ! It was the camera ! After inspecting the files, I have determined that either the camera or the memory card dropped a file or turned the camera off. Very unfortunate timing & bad luck---- but not my fault ! Anyway, check out one of my biggest bass ever --- and caught on the affordable Clone Series #4 Brown Bull FROG.

This is not just any FROG. This is a "very special" FROG. This is a registered Signature Series FROG #24. She is a southern "belle" Leopard FROG, a one-of-a-kind Original. But more than that --- she is the star of the legendary adventures of Ole Swamp Fart & Lillyfudder. There have been two episodes of this continuing saga published to date. A third, is due to be broadcast soon.

Lily on stump 8 in.jpg (32838 bytes)

Lillyfudder, the star of Ole SwampFart & Lilyfudder, will be the first FROG inducted into the Designer Bass FROG Hall of Fame

Ole SwampFart, the legend, has died. At least, we think so. He has "disappeared" in the Swamp. That's why we can now tell his legendary adventures with Lillyfudder.  She loves to talk --- all the time !   She also wears her heart on her tympanic membrane(frog ear drum), and she might even give a kiss with those big, red, puckered lips. Don't let her pretty looks fool you ! She's a KILLER !

6/16/10

We have been getting incredibly hot weather with temperatures regularly hitting 97 degrees & higher in some areas and heat indexes hitting105, but if you can catch a rainstorm or cloudy weather between rainstorms, you can still have some exciting action on the FROGs. In the last few weeks. I have caught a couple big ones and missed a couple big ones. One of them whipped my butt real good and got himself on camera doing it, just before he got away next to the kayak. Video to follow soon. The bass below was also a beautiful video, crashing through the pads to gobble up that light golden southern leopard with the rain pouring down. It was so hot that I didn't bother with the rain gear ! If you go out on the water in the rainy weather --- plan for a hasty exit strategy, especially if there is any chance of lightening. Play it safe !

5/30/10

We are sill waiting on the Clone Series of Designer Bass FROGs. But, we are expecting them within the next week or two. We have been waiting for the manufacturer to provide a stronger hook that compares to the custom hooks that come with the Original & Replicant Series of handmade FROGs. I know you are going to need the strong hook. In the meantime, I finally got one of the videos completed from earlier in the season. It demonstrates the effectiveness of "Finesse FROG Fishing" and stealth in extremely shallow, calm water. You don't want to try this from a bass boat or with your buddy paddling and casting next to you.

er">

Many more exciting videos to come when we get a chance to edit them.

The heat of summer has finally ended, and the fish are really responding, especially in the rivers like the St. John's and Lake George (2nd biggest lake in Florida) connected to the River. The vegetation is also back in good condition, and the bass are grabbing FROGs fished fast across the top of any matted type of plant material. It should be great fishing on the warm fronts until the real cold weather gets here after Christmas. This is a chance to catch lots of qualiity fish on topwater FROGs, and maybe even a trophy.

Our congratulations go out to one of our top FROGmen who is now on the Pro Staff at Malibu Kayaks www.malibukayaks.com   Chris is also now on the Pro Staff at Kayak Bass Fishing.com

All I can say is - - - we spotted him first ! He's been murdering big bass on our FROGs in Maryland since we started offering them for sale. Chris is also a guide. So, you too can benefit from from his knowledge and experience at both FROG fishing and kayak fishing. If I were you, I would book early for next season. Find out why we are all addicted to catching big bass by kayak with a FROG.

Chris Burke nails another big one on the FROG. On the Full Moon he also caught over 40 bass on the FROG. They were still hitting after dark in the moon light. Since he didn't have any bug spray, the mosquitoes finally drove him off the water. Check out some other photos and his own description on his FROGmen PageHe also caught a 28.5 inch Chain Pickerel.

The lakes are very slow, but you can catch a few, especially just before dark, and I got another one just after dark. But the previous four hours I cast a variety of lures for four hours out in the hot sun , catching only a small bass on a Banjo Minnow. However, I knew where I had to be with the FROG just befoore dark. Apparently, it was an appointment. This bass quietly followed the FROG out of the padfield and into open water. His nose quietly broke the calm surface as he quietly but solidly seized the FROG. He had only submerged about a foot, and sat there near the kayak munching the FROG  when I  set the hook very close to the kayak. I didn't have a clue he was that big, and he didn't have a clue I was there. A very nice battle. FROG fished quietly on a hot quiet evening.

I took a break from fishing the FROG to make some improvements on another lure that I have been making & fishing for many years. The temperatures are easing just a bit from summer highs, and the lakes are very slow, but the action in the rivers and lakes along the rivers is pretty good.

Fifteen minutes of testing with his new California Red-Legged Original Series FROG in a local pond nailed a big bass for FROGman Joe Agrillo in California. He promised to take the FROG to the California Delta which is famous for Big Bass and FROG Fishing. Joe had confidence in his new FROG and promised a Big Bass on the FROG. He kept his word .

The FROGs are fighting the good fight in Vermont. Now, you all can follow the adventures of "Team SharkBait" as they make the transition from "live bait frog fishermen," who formerly prowled the shores of many Vermont lakes & ponds to capture live frogs to fish with, into a crack team of FROGmen.

These guys are "hardcore". and they have discovered Capt Ken's Designer Bass FROGs.

Keary Mattison has been a gourmet collector of my FROGs since I started to sell them. He is about the same age that I was when I started to make them, and he is just as enthusiastic about them as I am. He was one of my first FROGmen. In addition to big bass, he also catches some big pike, and he doesn't let the harsh winters up there stop him from fishing even through the ice. He is off to a great start fishing the FROG for some awsome bass. Check out this Lake Champlain beast he caught fishing along an offshore weedline.

Keary   Mattison- New York and a nice 5 lbs 11 oz monster large mouth.

Hey Ken,

I fish the lake Champlain waters outside of crown point in new york I fish along the weed line about 80 to 90 feet off shore.  I use the northern pickerel frog you made and it has been working great the fish love it.

Most are around 1 1/2 to 3 lbs they are smaller up here then down there but i got lucky and landed a nice 5 lbs 11 oz monster large mouth.

I've sent some pictures to show you and others how well they work.

In spite of the appearance of good fishing represented by the big bass from the report on 7/9/09 and this new big fish caught on the FROGs, the fishing has not generally been good. The water temperatures are very elevated - - - often holding at 89-91 degrees. However, when there are thunderstorms, and especially rain to cool the shallows, the bass do tend to bite much better. But several days without rain turns them off almost completely. On several trips last week, I caught a dozen bass, including that big bass on 7/9/09. But this week its been tough to catch even small bass on any lures you try. The big bass below was the only fish to hit that day after many hours of casting. Several small thunderstorms passed on either side of the lake about an hour before dark, inspiring the big fish to move shallow where she met my FROG for an evening snack. I was testing the new Clone Series Legs again, but this time I tried them on one of my Original Series FROGs. She put out a monstrous wake coming for the FROG. Hungry, I guess. The new Clone Legs are awsome.

7/9/09

Okay, we are getting very close to releasing the Clone Series of Capt Ken Daubert's Designer Bass FROGs. Both pictures below feature the FROG #1 : Light Green Pickerel FROG. The new package below gives a very good view of the all important LEGs. We worked all year to produce this new style of LEGs. It has the best action of any style of Legs that I have ever produced, and I have designed hundreds of styles. And as you can see from the photo of the Big Bass caught on 7/9/09 by CaptKen , the Legs can be given any style of markings such as "bars" or "spots" that you want for that day. If applied the night before fishing with various colors of Permanent Marking Pens, they will last all day before fading, and fresh new and different markings can be applied for the next day's fishing.

Would you tie on the FROGs below to cast for big bass ? Perry Barber & Chris Burke both did. Perry tried this Bubble Gum Tree FROG on the left below for the first time and nailed a 9 pound bass from his kayak in a North Carolina pond. I sent it to Perry to try after Chris Burke had a bass of approximately 10 pounds right up to his kayak on his first try with his Splendid Leaf FROG, pictured below on the right. Chris's bass got off while he reached for his lip gripping tool, but he has caught bass over 7 pounds on the FROG before, and has caught 8 lb bass on other lures. So, he knows what a ten pounder looks like ---- even in his home state of Maryland.
