The lakes are very slow, but you can catch a few, especially just before dark, and I got another one just after dark. But the previous four hours I cast a variety of lures for four hours out in the hot sun , catching only a small bass on a Banjo Minnow. However, I knew where I had to be with the FROG just befoore dark. Apparently, it was an appointment. This bass quietly followed the FROG out of the padfield and into open water. His nose quietly broke the calm surface as he quietly but solidly seized the FROG. He had only submerged about a foot, and sat there near the kayak munching the FROG  when I  set the hook very close to the kayak. I didn't have a clue he was that big, and he didn't have a clue I was there. A very nice battle. FROG fished quietly on a hot quiet evening.

I took a break from fishing the FROG to make some improvements on another lure that I have been making & fishing for many years. The temperatures are easing just a bit from summer highs, and the lakes are very slow, but the action in the rivers and lakes along the rivers is pretty good.

This bass was caught on  a very special lure

that I have not yet shown anyone. But, I will soon.

Fifteen minutes of testing with his new California Red-Legged Original Series FROG in a local pond nailed a big bass for FROGman Joe Agrillo in California. He promised to take the FROG to the California Delta which is famous for Big Bass and FROG Fishing. Joe had confidence in his new FROG and promised a Big Bass on the FROG. He kept his word .

The FROGs are fighting the good fight in Vermont. Now, you all can follow the adventures of "Team SharkBait" as they make the transition from "live bait frog fishermen," who formerly prowled the shores of many Vermont lakes & ponds to capture live frogs to fish with, into a crack team of FROGmen.

These guys are "hardcore". and they have discovered Capt Ken's Designer Bass FROGs.

They have volunteered to allow everyone to share their experiences and adventures as they learn to  " Be" the FROG

Keary Mattison has been a gourmet collector of my FROGs since I started to sell them. He is about the same age that I was when I started to make them, and he is just as enthusiastic about them as I am. He was one of my first FROGmen. In addition to big bass, he also catches some big pike, and he doesn't let the harsh winters up there stop him from fishing even through the ice. He is off to a great start fishing the FROG for some awsome bass. Check out this Lake Champlain beast he caught fishing along an offshore weedline.

Keary   Mattison- New York and a nice 5 lbs 11 oz monster large mouth.

Hey Ken,

I fish the lake Champlain waters outside of crown point in new york I fish along the weed line about 80 to 90 feet off shore.  I use the northern pickerel frog you made and it has been working great the fish love it.

Most are around 1 1/2 to 3 lbs they are smaller up here then down there but i got lucky and landed a nice 5 lbs 11 oz monster large mouth.

I've sent some pictures to show you and others how well they work.

In spite of the appearance of good fishing represented by the big bass from the report on 7/9/09 and this new big fish caught on the FROGs, the fishing has not generally been good. The water temperatures are very elevated - - - often holding at 89-91 degrees. However, when there are thunderstorms, and especially rain to cool the shallows, the bass do tend to bite much better. But several days without rain turns them off almost completely. On several trips last week, I caught a dozen bass, including that big bass on 7/9/09. But this week its been tough to catch even small bass on any lures you try. The big bass below was the only fish to hit that day after many hours of casting. Several small thunderstorms passed on either side of the lake about an hour before dark, inspiring the big fish to move shallow where she met my FROG for an evening snack. I was testing the new Clone Series Legs again, but this time I tried them on one of my Original Series FROGs. She put out a monstrous wake coming for the FROG. Hungry, I guess. The new Clone Legs are awsome.

The photo on the right shows what you can do with the new Clone Series Legs and  a couple Sharpie Permanent Marking Pens. This photo is a closeup of the Clone Series Bass FROG used to catch the big bass below on 7/9/09. The big bass on the upper left didn't care that the seductive legs didn't have any markings.

Okay, we are getting very close to releasing the Clone Series of Capt Ken Daubert's Designer Bass FROGs. Both pictures below feature the FROG #1 : Light Green Pickerel FROG. The new package below gives a very good view of the all important LEGs. We worked all year to produce this new style of LEGs. It has the best action of any style of Legs that I have ever produced, and I have designed hundreds of styles. And as you can see from the photo of the Big Bass caught on 7/9/09 by CaptKen , the Legs can be given any style of markings such as "bars" or "spots" that you want for that day. If applied the night before fishing with various colors of Permanent Marking Pens, they will last all day before fading, and fresh new and different markings can be applied for the next day's fishing.

Would you tie on the FROGs below to cast for big bass ? Perry Barber & Chris Burke both did. Perry tried this Bubble Gum Tree FROG on the left below for the first time and nailed a 9 pound bass from his kayak in a North Carolina pond. I sent it to Perry to try after Chris Burke had a bass of approximately 10 pounds right up to his kayak on his first try with his Splendid Leaf FROG, pictured below on the right. Chris's bass got off while he reached for his lip gripping tool, but he has caught bass over 7 pounds on the FROG before, and has caught 8 lb bass on other lures. So, he knows what a ten pounder looks like ---- even in his home state of Maryland.
